Mafia books are one of my favorites and I loved the plot to this Mafia story. Dark Blood is not as dark as I am used to. There were some holes in the story that left me with questions. I do see that there is a prequel novella to Dark Blood that may fill in the holes and answer some of my questions.

I liked Matteo a lot, but wished he had been a little more of a badass considering that he was a trained killer. I felt he was not as hard and as rough as he should have been. Bianca is a likable character even though she is a spoiled mafia princess. I felt that she was too trusting of her kidnapper.

This is not a bad read at all and could even be a 5 star read with a little more effort on filling in the holes in the story. Dark Blood did keep me reading and invested in the story. Not bad for a debut novel. If you are looking for a really short read that is not too dark of a mafia story this one is for you.
