Genre: Contemporary Romance — SYNOPSIS -- From the author who brought you That Kiss, That Promise, I Will Catch You, and Tracing Hearts, comes another tale of love and loss. Elora Foster and Logan Turner never met, until the day she showed up on his doorstep. After a simple, chance encounter, the two embark on a journey that will change both their lives forever. With good intentions and a heart of gold, Elora has aspirations of being a nurse. But, when she’s hired to take care of Logan, a double amputee, she’s instantly put off by his grouchy demeanor and bad attitude. She’s not sure if taking this job was the right move, or the worst decision of her life. Logan, who was recently released from the hospital, has no intention of letting anyone take care of him. He’s sure there’s nothing that could change his hopeless situation, so he resigns himself to his fate. When he meets Elora, instant friction begins, but soon, he realizes there's something different about her. Try as he might to behave himself, he finds that his negative attitude upsets her frequently—and to his surprise, it bothers him. As time moves on, the two become more acquainted, and strong feelings begin to grow, but a road block threatens to derail any relationship that might develop. Just when they think they’ve found a way around it, their lives take a turn for the worse, and they're both faced with a gut wrenching decision which has the potential to tear them apart. Can she save this lost soul? Can he get over the past enough to see she’s the one? Can they work through the worst problem they’ve ever known, or will the strain be too much?

— SHORT EXCERPT --
"You cared, and you challenged me. You pushed me to want more for myself. You gave me a reason to fight for my life. And, that’s when I felt it—hope. I felt it instantly—the minute you walked in, and it scared the sh*t out of me."
— ABOUT THE AUTHOR --
Hello! I’m Kate Squires, and I write contemporary romance novels. Want to know a little bit more about me? Well, then keep reading!
Northeast Ohio, is where my life began and continues. I’m the only girl in my family of four older brothers, who lightheartedly tortured me as a child. My father was an avid reader, and was somehow able to watch TV, and read books simultaneously, without missing a beat. My mom loved to read as well, and was basically June Cleaver. Not that I am old enough to know who that is.
I met my husband, though I was sure he wasn’t the one for me. Through his ability to make me laugh in any situation, I found that my original assumptions were incorrect, and we married three years later. His romantic side is often the inspiration for some of the parts in my books. Together with our four crazy children, we fight and make up, which incidentally, is how some of my best fight scenes are written!
Aside from writing, I’ve held other steady jobs. They range from Dog Groomer, to Home Health Aide, Housekeeper to Dance Teacher. I’ve also been a foster parent to countless children, and a host mom to several foreign exchange students. So, when do I find time to write? In between bringing home the bacon and frying it up in a pan, of course! I’ve published a series of contemporary romance novels. That Kiss, and its sequel, That Promise, I Will Catch You, and Tracing Hearts. That Kiss, That Promise, and I Will Catch You, are all available in paperback on Amazon, and for your e-reader at Amazon.com and Smashwords.com. Tracing Hearts is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited! If you have any questions or just want to send me a message, please do! I love getting reader mail, and strive to answer every message. Don’t worry, I won’t bite.
Thanks for visiting. Come back soon!
-Kate

She was the only happy person in the room and had entertained herself for the past ten minutes by chewing on her fist. He deposited her into my arms and resumed pacing. She grabbed at my chunky silver necklace and lunged for my curls. I knew she wanted to play peek-a-boo in my hair because lately that was her favorite entertainment. “No, babykins. Let’s leave Mommy’s hair alone for tonight.” I swept my curls back with my free hand, and she giggled into my chest. My hair had grown even longer in Caleb’s absence, since I hadn’t had the desire to do anything with it. But my hair didn’t matter, Charlotte’s slobbery little mouth didn’t matter, nothing mattered. We were about to be a family—for the first time. A surge went through me. I was giddy. Manic, even, at the thought of Caleb’s return. I blew a fart noise on Charlotte’s cheek and she laughed more. Bouncing Charlotte on my hip, we turned again to the window, and she reached her chubby hand to the glass, as if trying to touch the night. I’d dressed her in a frothy, hot pink dress with a tulle skirt. She looked unbearably adorable, and it would be impossible for Caleb not to recognize his own child with big blue eyes so identical to his. Colin’s phone buzzed. “It’s him.” He inhaled sharply, then answered and grinned. “Hey. Yeah, we’re all here. Okay.” He hung up. “Caleb and Dad and Mom are in the lobby.” Laura gave a little muffled cry and hugged Sarah, who stared hard at me over Laura’s shoulder. “I’m fine,” I mouthed to her, not feeling fine at all. I kissed Charlotte’s cheek. “Daddy’s home,” I whispered, trying not to shake too much. Charlotte seemed unusually heavy. After a few seconds, a nervous, barking laugh escaped my lips. “How long does it take for the elevator to crawl up here?” No one responded. Then, the ding of the elevator bell. The sliding open of the doors. And my husband walked in. About Tamara Lush: During the day, Tamara Lush writes news as a journalist with The Associated Press. Holy mother of all hangovers. I’d succumbed to the lure of Vegas and gotten completely wasted. Granted, that’s what everyone did in Las Vegas but I like to think I usually have more sense than the social norm. I rub my eyes and blink them open. The hotel room comes into formation around me. The walls are a warm golden color and the flat screen on the wall plays some home improvement show. I can see the bathroom from the bed, the tiled walls and large soaking tub. I roll over onto my side, hoping I can sleep off the hangover, and reel back. “Oh my God,” I cry, flailing in bed. My legs kick the sleeping guy beside me. Not just any sleeping guy. Oh no. Xander Kincaid, my brother’s best friend, lays in the bed beside me. His dark hair tumbles over his forehead and his cheeks are covered with several days worth of scruff. His chest is bare and…holy shit. He’s naked. I look down. Oh God, I’m naked too. “What’s wrong?” He asks, reaching his left hand out to pull me closer to him. That’s when I see it. “Is that a wedding band?” I scream shrilly. His eyes narrow. “You don’t fucking remember?” I shake my head and look at my own hand. A thin silver band rests on my finger. “What did we do?” He sits up in bed and I try to ignore how adorably rumpled he looks with his hair sticking up. Everything begins flooding back to me in quick bursts. Drinks. Kissing. Laughter. Confessions of love and desire. A wedding chapel. Vows. Rings. A contract. “We’re married,” I whisper. “Holy shit.” It’s all I’ve ever wanted—to be with Xander, but not like this. Never like this. “My brother is going to kill us.”
Can be read as a standalone.

When Stars Collide by Micalea Smeltzer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars Good book. This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It is a cute sexy read with both humor and touches on a tough storyline. When Thea wakes up in Vegas married to her brothers best friend, she freaks. They are very good friends themselves and she has had a crush on him her whole life. Xander is in love with his best friends little sister, so when he wakes up married to her his world finally feels complete. Just convincing her to stay married is the key. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the writing was great. My only problem with it was that is does touch on a hard issue and I felt like that part of the story was a little rushed. However it is a great book and I do recommend it. Looking forward to the next book in the series. “Beck?” I managed to get his name out just before he opened the front door. “Yeah?” He spun back to face me, his dark eyes unreadable. I turned my face to the side so I could see him fully. “You don't have to go,” I said softly. “You can stay. Only if you want to though.” He rubbed his hand down his face, his eyes never leaving mine, then walked back into the kitchen toward me. I stood up away from the fridge as he stopped right next to me. Slowly, he touched his hand to my face, his fingertips teasing my hairline. His dark gaze searched mine, and my heart jumped into my throat as the usual tingles his touch sparked danced down my neck. Then, he slid his hand into my hair, allowing the blonde strands to fall away from his fingertips. “Do I want to go home to my big-ass house with its cold emptiness?” he asked in a low voice. “Or go to the club where half the girls there still see me as a mountain to be conquered? Not particularly, Blondie. I'd rather stay here. Even if there will be a demand for movies and water and foot rubs from a tiny, sick person.” “You can.” My voice was quiet, like his. Even if my internal screams from self-preservation and vulnerability were deafeningly loud as they told me I was a fool, that he had
to go, that this would never be enough for him. “Do you want me to?” His question was... honest. Raw. Hesitant. Like he didn't want me to answer. “Do I want you to stay here in my tiny house so my daughter can fall more in love with you than she already is? Not really. But...” Don't be a fool, Cassie. Don't admit you want him to stay. He's just going to hurt you. “I don't exactly want you to go either.” “For her, or for you?” “I don't want to answer that question.” “If I kissed you right now, would you ram your knee into my cock?” “I'd briefly consider it, but I probably wouldn't do it.” His lips twitched to the side. “You just answered the question.” Then, of course, he cupped the back of my head, and he kissed me. It was slow, sweet, gentle. And I didn't consider kneeing him in the balls for a single second. Beck pulled back and trailed his hand down my arm before he finally let me go. “I'm going home to get changed and then come back. Do you need anything while I'm gone? For CiCi? You?” “I don't...” I sighed and chewed back my pride. “I meant to go to the store today after work to get some stuff like bread, milk... important stuff. But now I can't.” “I can get it. Just tell me what you need.” I bit the inside of my lip, then nodded. “Okay. Let me write it down.” I walked through into the front room with him hot on my heels and grabbed the notebook and pen from under the coffee table. A few things were already scrawled down, so I added a couple more things, including more medicine. I tore the sheet off the notebook, stood, then gave it to Beck. “Let me get my wallet.” He grabbed my wrist, stopping me. “I'm not taking your money.” I lifted my gaze to his. “You can't pay for my groceries.” “I can and I will.” “You can't and you won't.” “I can and I will.” “You can't and you won't.” “I can do this all day, baby. I'm stubborn as fuck.” His eyes told me he wasn't lying. “And we all know I'm a brat about the word no. So, I can, I will, and I'm going to. If I can't help you by buying a measly eight items, I'm an asshole who shouldn't be allowed around other people.” “You can't buy my groceries,” I repeated. It was a lame argument. I was going to lose, but I'd fight until I went down. Beck's eyes twinkled as he leaned in. “Don't worry. If you really want to pay me back, I'll take a blow job. I imagine your lips around my cock will be a pretty good thank you.” My jaw dropped as he backed off with a wink. “Mouth open already, Cassie? Enthusiasm. I like that.” I snapped my jaw shut and glared at him. “You're a dirty pig.” “I know. But I've got fifty bucks that says you'll be sucking my dick by bedtime. If you don't agree...” He shrugged one shoulder, his lips curved in that dangerous smirk. “If you're lucky, I'll bite it.” “I'll take that as I'm in for a good time.” One more wink, complete with expanding grin, and he was gone. Motherfucking asshole.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo -- EXCERPT: He threw the gear in park, cut the engine and opened his door. The cab filled with the sound of cicadas and I glanced around in a panic. Before I could think what to do, my door opened and he undid my seat belt. “Get out.” His features were more austere than in the warehouse. I trembled. “No.” “Not a request.” Viking was alpha, all alpha. He commanded everything but he’d never forced me to do anything. Anxiety licked at my conscience but I swung my legs out of the truck because showing fear was worse than defeat. My feet hit the ground and I looked up at him with every ounce of defiance I had. “Now what?” His shoulders dropped, he leaned toward me and his body language went from tensed restraint to liquid seduction in half a second. “Look up,” he gently commanded. Was this a trick? Was he only pretending to not be mad? Reluctant to take my eyes off him, I glanced at the dark sky. “What about it?” “What do you see?” I swallowed past the tightness in my throat. “Night.” “The moon and stars,” his low, quiet voice corrected. I didn’t like this. Him gentle, making me look at the stars, this wasn’t the man who’d killed to save my life. “So?” Huge, warm fingers wrapped around the back of my neck. “The same moon that was there last night.” He moved closer. “The same stars that will be there tomorrow night.” His body heat curled around me like everything I’d ever wanted and I pushed back. “Is this some kind of proverb?” “Same as the night sky, I was there yesterday and I will be there tomorrow.” My throat closed up, my chest tightened and I fought tears. It was the single most beautiful thing anyone had ever said to me. And it was a complete lie.

She drew his head down to touch her lips to his, and he did not resist. His hands roamed up the small of her back, following the seductive outline of her waistline, leaving a blazoned trail of sensations in their quake. Her insides quivered as his mouth warmly opened and his tongue worked its way insider her mouth. He took her face between his hands and aroused her with long, ravishing kisses, bringing to life a passion that had been dormant for far too long. She hungered for more than just kisses and knew that he could carry her to heights of ecstasy she never experienced before. She knew by the way he kissed and worked his magic over her that he was a man expert in loving a woman. Pamela forced herself to sever their tie. As much as she wanted him in her bed, she could not rush into anything she would be sorry for later. “You sure know how to kiss a woman, Gavin Templeton,” she exhaled as she fumbled in her purse for her keys. “The pleasure is all mine,” he rasped. He lifted her chin with the tip of his finger and looked at her warmly. “I’d love to see you again, that is, if you feel the same” “I would love nothing more. I’m starting back to work on Monday and going to take it slow at first. My schedule needs to be reworked and I have to prepare for a major case I’m committed to.” Pamela looked away shyly for a brief moment and gathered Gavin’s hands in her own, drawing them to her breast. “Law has been my life 24/7. I would love a reason to change that. I’m a little mystified by the way fate has brought us together. I also don’t want to rush things between us. I hope you don’t mind.” Her eyes pleaded for his understanding. “There’s so much I don’t know about you, and you me.” Gavin grasped her by her shoulders and kneaded them softly. “I’m not a love them and leave them kind of guy. I’m attracted to you and not because you saved my life. I was drawn to you the moment I laid eyes on you. I’m fine with slow. I can be very patient when I have to.” Pamela’s eyebrow quirked playfully. “Well,” he interjected, joking. “To some degree.” She laughed and he drew her into his arms. When she tilted her head back to gaze into his eyes, he captured her lips once again and she moaned softly with pleasure. He broke the kiss and smiled knowingly at the sound she made. “Slow, hah?” She jabbed his rib playfully and replied, “You keep kissing me like that, and that could change.”
