When Love Breaks by Kate Squires
Genre: Contemporary Romance — SYNOPSIS -- From the author who brought you That Kiss, That Promise, I Will Catch You, and Tracing Hearts, comes another tale of love and loss. Elora Foster and Logan Turner never met, until the day she showed up on his doorstep. After a simple, chance encounter, the two embark on a journey that will change both their lives forever. With good intentions and a heart of gold, Elora has aspirations of being a nurse. But, when she’s hired to take care of Logan, a double amputee, she’s instantly put off by his grouchy demeanor and bad attitude. She’s not sure if taking this job was the right move, or the worst decision of her life. Logan, who was recently released from the hospital, has no intention of letting anyone take care of him. He’s sure there’s nothing that could change his hopeless situation, so he resigns himself to his fate. When he meets Elora, instant friction begins, but soon, he realizes there's something different about her. Try as he might to behave himself, he finds that his negative attitude upsets her frequently—and to his surprise, it bothers him. As time moves on, the two become more acquainted, and strong feelings begin to grow, but a road block threatens to derail any relationship that might develop. Just when they think they’ve found a way around it, their lives take a turn for the worse, and they're both faced with a gut wrenching decision which has the potential to tear them apart. Can she save this lost soul? Can he get over the past enough to see she’s the one? Can they work through the worst problem they’ve ever known, or will the strain be too much?

— SHORT EXCERPT --
"You cared, and you challenged me. You pushed me to want more for myself. You gave me a reason to fight for my life. And, that’s when I felt it—hope. I felt it instantly—the minute you walked in, and it scared the sh*t out of me."
— ABOUT THE AUTHOR --
Hello! I’m Kate Squires, and I write contemporary romance novels. Want to know a little bit more about me? Well, then keep reading!
Northeast Ohio, is where my life began and continues. I’m the only girl in my family of four older brothers, who lightheartedly tortured me as a child. My father was an avid reader, and was somehow able to watch TV, and read books simultaneously, without missing a beat. My mom loved to read as well, and was basically June Cleaver. Not that I am old enough to know who that is.
I met my husband, though I was sure he wasn’t the one for me. Through his ability to make me laugh in any situation, I found that my original assumptions were incorrect, and we married three years later. His romantic side is often the inspiration for some of the parts in my books. Together with our four crazy children, we fight and make up, which incidentally, is how some of my best fight scenes are written!
Aside from writing, I’ve held other steady jobs. They range from Dog Groomer, to Home Health Aide, Housekeeper to Dance Teacher. I’ve also been a foster parent to countless children, and a host mom to several foreign exchange students. So, when do I find time to write? In between bringing home the bacon and frying it up in a pan, of course! I’ve published a series of contemporary romance novels. That Kiss, and its sequel, That Promise, I Will Catch You, and Tracing Hearts. That Kiss, That Promise, and I Will Catch You, are all available in paperback on Amazon, and for your e-reader at Amazon.com and Smashwords.com. Tracing Hearts is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited! If you have any questions or just want to send me a message, please do! I love getting reader mail, and strive to answer every message. Don’t worry, I won’t bite.
Thanks for visiting. Come back soon!

She was the only happy person in the room and had entertained herself for the past ten minutes by chewing on her fist. He deposited her into my arms and resumed pacing. She grabbed at my chunky silver necklace and lunged for my curls. I knew she wanted to play peek-a-boo in my hair because lately that was her favorite entertainment. “No, babykins. Let’s leave Mommy’s hair alone for tonight.” I swept my curls back with my free hand, and she giggled into my chest. My hair had grown even longer in Caleb’s absence, since I hadn’t had the desire to do anything with it. But my hair didn’t matter, Charlotte’s slobbery little mouth didn’t matter, nothing mattered. We were about to be a family—for the first time. A surge went through me. I was giddy. Manic, even, at the thought of Caleb’s return. I blew a fart noise on Charlotte’s cheek and she laughed more. Bouncing Charlotte on my hip, we turned again to the window, and she reached her chubby hand to the glass, as if trying to touch the night. I’d dressed her in a frothy, hot pink dress with a tulle skirt. She looked unbearably adorable, and it would be impossible for Caleb not to recognize his own child with big blue eyes so identical to his. Colin’s phone buzzed. “It’s him.” He inhaled sharply, then answered and grinned. “Hey. Yeah, we’re all here. Okay.” He hung up. “Caleb and Dad and Mom are in the lobby.” Laura gave a little muffled cry and hugged Sarah, who stared hard at me over Laura’s shoulder. “I’m fine,” I mouthed to her, not feeling fine at all. I kissed Charlotte’s cheek. “Daddy’s home,” I whispered, trying not to shake too much. Charlotte seemed unusually heavy. After a few seconds, a nervous, barking laugh escaped my lips. “How long does it take for the elevator to crawl up here?” No one responded. Then, the ding of the elevator bell. The sliding open of the doors. And my husband walked in. About Tamara Lush: During the day, Tamara Lush writes news as a journalist with The Associated Press. Holy mother of all hangovers. I’d succumbed to the lure of Vegas and gotten completely wasted. Granted, that’s what everyone did in Las Vegas but I like to think I usually have more sense than the social norm. I rub my eyes and blink them open. The hotel room comes into formation around me. The walls are a warm golden color and the flat screen on the wall plays some home improvement show. I can see the bathroom from the bed, the tiled walls and large soaking tub. I roll over onto my side, hoping I can sleep off the hangover, and reel back. “Oh my God,” I cry, flailing in bed. My legs kick the sleeping guy beside me. Not just any sleeping guy. Oh no. Xander Kincaid, my brother’s best friend, lays in the bed beside me. His dark hair tumbles over his forehead and his cheeks are covered with several days worth of scruff. His chest is bare and…holy shit. He’s naked. I look down. Oh God, I’m naked too. “What’s wrong?” He asks, reaching his left hand out to pull me closer to him. That’s when I see it. “Is that a wedding band?” I scream shrilly. His eyes narrow. “You don’t fucking remember?” I shake my head and look at my own hand. A thin silver band rests on my finger. “What did we do?” He sits up in bed and I try to ignore how adorably rumpled he looks with his hair sticking up. Everything begins flooding back to me in quick bursts. Drinks. Kissing. Laughter. Confessions of love and desire. A wedding chapel. Vows. Rings. A contract. “We’re married,” I whisper. “Holy shit.” It’s all I’ve ever wanted—to be with Xander, but not like this. Never like this. “My brother is going to kill us.”
Can be read as a standalone.

When Stars Collide by Micalea SmeltzerMy rating: 4 of 5 stars Good book. This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It is a cute sexy read with both humor and touches on a tough storyline. When Thea wakes up in Vegas married to her brothers best friend, she freaks. They are very good friends themselves and she has had a crush on him her whole life. Xander is in love with his best friends little sister, so when he wakes up married to her his world finally feels complete. Just convincing her to stay married is the key. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the writing was great. My only problem with it was that is does touch on a hard issue and I felt like that part of the story was a little rushed. However it is a great book and I do recommend it. Looking forward to the next book in the series. View all my reviews ![]()
