Love Has No Gender the brighter side of
Jo&Isalovebooks Promotions is proud to present today a new steamy MM romance in the Pelican Bay Series.
The Truth Within
by Sloane Kennedy

I'm not a fighter. I never was. So how do I make the one man who might just be worth fighting for see that?
At twenty-five years old, Ford Cornell should have his whole life ahead of him but instead, the would-be artist is drowning in denial and just trying to get through each day. And the boy who once believed life was about following impossible dreams has finally come to accept that it's really only about surviving a living nightmare... one of his own making.

But the bruises are becoming harder to hide.

So is the truth...

I refuse to fall for a guy who won't accept the truth about who he is or what he wants. Not again...
They say bad things happen in threes.

For Sherriff Camden Wells, it's more like fours... or fives... or dozens.

After an ugly lie destroys his career and the man he'd planned to spend the rest of his life with cuts him to the core with the ultimate betrayal, forty-year-old Cam is counting on his new job as sheriff of the quiet town of Pelican Bay to be the fresh start he needs. What he isn't counting on is meeting a young man who makes him want to break all his own rules.

He wants me to accept something that will cause me to lose everything. I may not have much but it's something and something is better than nothing... right?
Ford's gotten used to his role as his older brother's punching bag and being his mother's never-ending disappointment. They may not be the Cleavers but family is family and Ford's seen up close and personal what happens when you don't have anyone in your corner... or when you go against family.

And there's just no way he's strong enough to survive that...

Nothing about us should make sense but maybe that's why it does...
Two men... one living a lie and one knocking down the walls of the closet he was forced to live in for so long. When one white-hot encounter leads to another and then another, Ford and Cam are forced to accept that their need for each other isn't going away anytime soon. But being together means one will need to go against everything he believes in.

So which man will bend and which will break? And what will the truth ultimately reveal?

**This book CAN be read as a standalone, but you may want to consider checking out books 1 and 2 in the series to fully enjoy all the secondary characters you'll meet in this story.

MEET THE AUTHOR

Although Sloane Kennedy always dreamed of being a writer as a teenager, she didn't take the plunge until March of 2015 when she released her first novel as an independent author. Since then, she has released more than a dozen books including the Amazon best-selling "Barretti Security" series, "Finding" series and "Protectors" series. While she initially began writing M/F romance, she found her true passion writing gay romance and all four of her most recent releases reached the #1 spot on Amazon's Gay Romance bestseller list and Freeing Zane, her final book in the Barretti Security series, made it to Amazon's overall bestseller list. Sloane was born in Germany and grew up in Virginia and Wisconsin. Although she currently lives in Wisconsin, the place where she has always felt most at home is Seattle and many of her books take place in the Emerald city. Although she is unmarried, a menagerie of 2 dogs and 3 cats keeps her busy enough and 3 young nieces take care of the rest of her free time. Sloane loves being able to share her passion for romance with readers and she is truly humbled by all the support she's received from fans and fellow authors alike.

NOW LIVE!!!

LOCKED IN SILENCE
Pelican Bay, Book 1
BY BESTSELLING AUTHOR
SLOANE KENNEDY.

HOSTED BY JO&ISALOVEBOOKS BLOG.

SYNOPSIS

I’ve spent years hoping someone would finally hear me. It’s easier not to try anymore…
Ten years after leaving his small Minnesota hometown in his rearview mirror for what Nolan Grainger was sure would be the last time, life has decided to throw the talented musician a curveball and send him back to the town he lived in but was never really home.

At twenty-eight, Nolan has traveled the world as a successful concert violinist with some of the best symphonies in the country. But success breeds envy, and when Nolan’s benefactor and lover decides Nolan has flown high enough, he cruelly clips Nolan’s wings. The betrayal and ensuing scandal leaves the violinist’s career in shambles and with barely enough money to start fresh somewhere beyond his vindictive ex’s powerful reach. But just as he’s ready to get his life back on track, Nolan gets the call he’s been dreading.

After a stroke leaves his father a partial invalid, duty-bound Nolan returns to Pelican Bay and a life he’s spent years trying to forget. When he’s forced to use the last of his own money to keep from losing the family home, desperation has him turning to the one man he’d hoped never to see again…

Even if I could speak, there wouldn’t be anyone there to listen…
Pelican Bay’s golden boy, Dallas Kent, had the quintessential perfect life. Smart, gorgeous, and popular, the baseball phenom was well on his way to a life filled with fame and fortune. But more importantly, he had a one-way ticket out of Pelican Bay and far away from the family who used love as currency and whose high expectations were the law of the land. But a stormy night, sharp highway curve and one bad decision changed everything, leaving Dallas with nothing.

Because the accident that took his parents, his future and his crown as the boy who could do no wrong, also stole his voice.

Despised for the horrific wreck that ended the lives of two of Pelican Bay’s most respected residents, Dallas has retreated to a secluded stretch of land where he’s found refuge in a menagerie of unwanted animals that don’t care that he once had the world at his feet or that he’ll never speak again.

But when the quiet, bookish boy he wasn’t allowed to notice in school suddenly reappears ten years later at Dallas’s wildlife rehab center in desperate need of a job, Dallas is thrust back into a world he’s worked hard to escape.

Dallas’s silence was supposed to send Nolan scurrying, but what if Nolan ends up being the one person who finally hears him?

Will two men who’ve been fleeing from the past finally come home to Pelican Bay for good or will the silence drive them apart forever?

EXCERPT

Nolan’s gaze returned to me and the smile fell from his pretty mouth as his eyes held mine. My body instantly responded. Nolan swallowed hard and then his tongue was coming out to wet his lips. I groaned and Nolan snapped his head up at the sound. I half expected him to accuse me of lying about not being able to talk or something, he was staring at me so hard.
“Sorry,” he said, quickly dropping his eyes. “Google said you can still make certain sounds because you’re forcing air out of your body but I…”
His voice dropped off suddenly as he realized what he’d said.
I, myself, was stunned.
He’d googled my condition?
Why?
“Shit, I mean…Oh God, I’m sorry, Dallas. I wasn’t trying to pry into your business but I was curious last night and…fuck.”
I smiled because there was just no getting over how cute he was when he got all flustered. His skin had flushed a pretty shade of pink and I was half tempted to reach out and touch it just to see how warm it was.
Yeah, I really did need to get him out of here.
Since his eyes were downcast, I tapped his arm and then flashed him the okay sign. He nodded but didn’t say anything. I didn’t like how dejected he looked. But I ignored the compelling need to touch him again and went to the door to open it, hoping he’d get the message.
He did.
I followed him outside and watched as he headed towards his car. It wasn’t the same car he’d been driving the night before, so I could only assume that one was in the shop. I watched as Nolan searched his pocket for his keys. He cast me a glance and nodded his head briefly. “Thanks again for last night.” He didn’t wait for me to respond as he went around to the driver’s side of the car. His eyes were downcast as he reached for the door handle, but once he wrapped his fingers around it, he just hung there.
I waited for him to move or, at the very least, say something, but it was like he was locked in place. I was about to tap on the hood of his car to get his attention when I saw his shoulders start to shake. Despair tore through me as I realized what was happening.
And how wholly unequipped I was to handle it.
“Dallas?” Nolan whispered. He didn’t look up as he dashed at his eyes.
At the tears I knew were there, but that I couldn’t see because he refused to look up at me.
“Can I…can I see the baby raccoon?” Nolan asked, his voice barely there.
Something inside of me twisted painfully at the all too familiar scene of the Nolan Grainger who’d haunted my dreams in school.
And not in the good way.
As badly as I wanted to send him on his way, I couldn’t. It was like I was back in my Jeep watching Nolan wipe those fucking eggs off his body as he softly cried.
But there hadn’t been anyone to hear him.
Except me.
And I’d been a goddamned coward.

Revelation

The Protectors #7
By Sloane Kennedy
Hosted by Jo&Isalovebooks Blog.

“I trusted once. I won’t make that mistake again…”
An ugly childhood and devastating betrayal have left 25-year-old Cain Jensen scarred inside and out. Protecting himself means keeping everyone at arm’s length and protecting others means never getting emotionally involved. In the three years since he’s joined an underground vigilante group, every life he saves helps ease the guilt of the ones that were lost to him so long ago. So when he’s sent to a remote cabin in the Cascade Mountains just north of Seattle to follow up on the disappearance of his boss’s co-worker, his only thought is to see that justice is served, no matter what the circumstances.
But nothing he’s ever experienced has prepared the cold-hearted and very straight Cain for who he finds on that mountain…or the intense need to suddenly offer more than just protection.

“I’ve finally managed to break free, but I’ve never felt more trapped in my entire life…”
Ethan Rhodes has been running for six months, but it’s never fast enough, it’s never far enough. At 30 years old, the talented ER Doctor should be spending his days saving other people’s lives, not worrying about his own. But he knows that the four years of physical and emotional abuse he’s suffered at the hands of his volatile ex are nothing compared to what will happen when Ethan runs out of places to hide, especially after taking something from the man he once was sure would be the love of his life.
A violent episode that has Ethan narrowly escaping death leads to a quiet cabin in the mountains where his battered body will have time to heal before he and the young girl relying on him need to run again. But everything changes with the arrival of a mysterious stranger who threatens to give Ethan something he’d finally accepted was gone forever…hope.

“I didn’t see this coming. I don’t think he did either…”
To get to the truth, Cain must first get through Ethan’s defenses, but watching the other man’s walls start to come down forces Cain to face his own past. And as the tremulous connection between the two men grows and gives way to something more, both will need to decide if they’re willing to risk giving each other the one thing that has cost them so much in the past…trust.

Will two men who’ve vowed never to let someone close again let down their guard long enough to find each other, or will they let their pasts determine their future?

From Ethan’s perspective…

Another round of tears threatened as I settled my hands on my lap to try and cover my flaccid cock. I kept my eyes on the ground as Cain got the shower going. A sliver of relief went through me when I saw that the owner of the cabin had installed a handrail in the shower. Which meant even if I needed help getting into the shower, at least I’d be able to stand on my own once I was in there.

And that meant only another minute or two of humiliation and then I’d finally have a few moments to myself to try and pull it together.

That was my thought.
Reality, as usual, turned out to be a cruel bitch.
Because as soon as I latched my hands on the rail and Cain removed his arm from my waist, my knees buckled. I would have hit the tile had Cain not had the reflexes he had.
I lost it at that point. I was just done.
Utterly done.
The sobs crawled up from my belly so painfully that no amount of wishing them away would have mattered.
I had nothing left.
I stood there, naked and broken with water raining down on me and finally wished Eric had finished what he’d started yesterday.
He’d won.
Even if I was still pulling oxygen into my lungs, he’d won.
I let my knees buckle hoping Cain would just let me slide to the ground and leave me there in peace, but I wasn’t that lucky. I waited for him to pull me back out of the shower, but he didn’t. Nor did he say anything. I was barely aware of him shifting his body a few times, but I didn’t have the energy to look at him or even beg him to leave me alone.
All I had was grief.
Grief for everything I’d lost. Grief for the man I’d once been…that foolish, stupid man who’d walked blindly to the gates of hell and begged to be admitted.
Cain finally moved me, but it wasn’t to help me out of the shower. No, it was to move me forward, and to my disbelief, I felt his big body pushing up against me as he climbed in with me, fully clothed.
A new round of wracking, painful cries erupted from my throat at the gesture and I wanted to both tear myself away from him and lean back against him at the same time.
“Shhh, just let it out, Ethan,” Cain whispered and I swore I felt his lips against the spot where my neck met my shoulder. “I’ve got you.”
I shook my head because I couldn’t let myself believe that.
That he had me.

by Sloane Kennedy
Release Day Blitz

Synopsis

“Once a fuck up, always a fuck up.”

Words twenty-six-year-old Dante Thorne has had to live with for more years than he can count and a title he finally earned at the tender age of sixteen when one careless decision led to tragedy. And since he can’t deny the truth of the words, why not live by them instead? Fucking up, fucking, it doesn’t matter; as long as it feels good and makes him forget the day he failed the one person he’d always sworn to protect. A good philosophy to live by until Dante meets the one man who might actually having him wishing he was something more…

At forty-one and with a distinguished career as a Texas Ranger under his belt, Magnus DuCane should have been in the prime of his life. Instead, he’s mourning the loss of the daughter he couldn’t save and contemplating a future that looks nothing like the one he had planned. The only bright spot in his life is the young grandson whose suddenly been returned to him after going missing two years earlier and the new family of men that he’s been welcomed in to with open arms. But with his iron will, unfailing self-control and unflappable discipline, Magnus knows he can start a new chapter and get his life back on track…if he can just get past the disturbing, unexpected feelings one young man stirs in him.

Because everything about Dante Thorne is wrong for Magnus. His arrogance, his cocky attitude, every single unfiltered word that falls unchecked out of his mouth and, of course, the fact that he’s a man.

But when his well-meaning friends send Dante with him as a bodyguard when he returns to Texas to testify in a high-profile case, Magnus begins to see beyond the brash words and endless sexual innuendo. And when he starts to discover that what he sees isn’t all that bad, suddenly the fact that that Dante is a man instead of a woman no longer seems like such a big sticking point…

Excerpt
Prologue

Dante
The guy wasn’t bad at giving head. And what he lacked in finesse, he more than made up for in eagerness. But the fact that I had to remind myself to start fucking his mouth was evidence enough that my head wasn’t in the game. I’d like to say that was because of the slight buzz I had going from the two glasses of champagne I’d downed in record time after the first one that I’d slowly sipped during the handful of toasts that had been given to the grooms, but lying to myself was just a waste of time.
No, there was only one reason I was so fucking distracted that even a halfway decent blowjob was doing nothing for me.
And that reason was wrapped up in a gorgeous 6’2 package of hard muscle, a lazy, killer smile and the most intense blue eyes I’d ever seen.
That reason also hated my fucking guts and had no problem reminding me of that every time he flashed those icy blues my way.
Did he have a reason to?
Okay, so maybe I’d enjoyed needling him just a little too much about how uptight he was, his advanced age - though at forty something, he wasn’t at all advanced – and the fact that he was a grandfather. Hell, the man didn’t look anything like any grandfather I’d ever seen.
I’d wanted him from the very first time I’d met him and since I was the kind of guy who was used to getting what he wanted, I hadn’t hesitated in letting him know that five minutes with me would change his entire outlook on life.
A little conceited? Yeah, I suppose. My mother had always told me I needed to think more before I spoke, but I found that most of the men and women I wanted found it more of a turn on when I told them what they wanted. And I never failed to follow through on the promise of pleasure. Whether it was a man or a woman or hell, more than one of either or both, I made sure all my partners got off and then some.
Leave them wanting more.
It was a good rule of thumb because it meant I never had to chase someone. They came to me and then they kept coming back until I decided I was done, which was nearly always the case after the first time.
Like the pretty little number voraciously sucking my dick.
I’d honed in on him from the moment I’d spied him working with the rest of the wait staff to get the hors d'oeuvres set up. He’d tried to ignore my not so subtle glances, but when he’d upended a tray of some strange-looking shrimp dish after I’d discreetly adjusted myself so that only he would see, I’d known it wouldn’t take much. After that, I’d just had to tease him mercilessly with hungry glances and the occasional playful touch as he’d repeatedly approached me with trays of appetizers I’d had no interest in eating. When I’d finally stroked my hand over his groin after he’d appeared at my side with a tray full of champagne flutes, he’d barely managed to hang on to it. All I’d had to do was tell him, “Upstairs bathroom” and he’d nodded so excitedly that he’d looked like a man who’d just won the fucking lottery.
So, the blowjob really should have been better. Or I should have at least been able to look down at the head of brown hair and not see dark hair heavily threaded with silver. I shouldn’t have been hoping I’d see gorgeous blue eyes looking up at me as my cock was being sucked to the back of a corded throat.
Fucking Magnus DuCane.
I’d met the man the day I’d been assigned to stand guard outside his grandson’s hospital room. Little Matty Travers had been undergoing chemotherapy treatment at the children’s hospital in Seattle and I’d been charged with protecting him after his father, Tate and my former colleague, Hawke, had run afoul of some drug dealers. Fortunately, there’d been no threat to the boy and while I would miss interacting with the kid, I was glad he was out of the hospital for good.
What I wouldn’t miss were the looks of disdain Magnus would shoot me every time he saw me. How the fuck was I supposed to know the man wasn’t gay or even bi?
Okay, so maybe I should have gotten the hint early on when I’d sent him a few flirtatious looks and he’d responded with obvious discomfort, but I’d sworn I’d seen something else in those stunning eyes of his, too. And since I’d been more than willing to let the guy use me to test what it would be like to fly his rainbow flag, I’d made sure to let him know that with the occasional touch or suggestion when he’d been leaving his grandson’s room. His response?
Nothing.
Not one goddamn word.
He hadn’t ever told me to fuck off. Hadn’t ever told me he wasn’t interested. No, he’d just stared at me with that look.
That you’re a waste of skin look that my stepfather never failed to lay on me every time he saw me – that he’d cast on me from the moment he’d married my mother nearly twenty years earlier.
In truth, that was the reason I’d kept trying to get his attention. Not just because I’d been eager to find out what it would feel like to bury my cock into what I suspected was his very tight, very virgin ass. No, I’d been desperate to show him I didn’t give a shit what he thought of me.
I was so lost in thought that I didn’t register that me and my sloppy-mouthed new friend weren’t alone anymore. It wasn’t until I glanced up in the bathroom mirror that I saw him watching us.
Fuck, I couldn’t seem to escape the man. Or that fucking look which even now bloomed to life in his gaze as his eyes went from me down to the man on his knees in front of me.
I would have expected Magnus to send me the standard ‘You’re worthless’ look and remove himself from the bathroom, but he just stood there, his eyes on…fuck, where the hell were his eyes?
Not on my face and definitely not on the oblivious man who was still going to town on my cock…no, his eyes were on my bare ass which Caterer Guy was hanging onto as he sucked me down to the root.
No fucking way. It couldn’t be.
Caterer Guy finally seemed to sense we weren’t alone anymore because he popped off my dick and let out a gasp. Before he could scramble to his feet, I grabbed him by the shoulder and held him in place as I turned my head so I could watch Magnus. His eyes finally lifted to mine and then I saw the frown spread across his pretty mouth.
“Did you forget to lock the door, my sweet?” I asked the man at my feet, though I kept my eyes on Magnus. The fact that he still hadn’t fled had my senses going into overdrive and I couldn’t resist the urge to play with him a bit, especially since I’d managed to catch that brief look of something besides derision in his gaze.
“We’ll be done in a bit,” I said to Magnus as I shifted enough so he could see my very thick, very ready cock as it bobbed in front of Caterer Guy’s face. I snagged my fingers in the guy’s hair and forced his attention to me. I looked at him long enough to say, “Finish me off. Our friend here was just leaving.” I shifted my eyes back to Magnus and said, “Unless he wants to join us.”
I expected the suggestion would be enough to send the man scurrying, but to my surprise, he slammed the door behind him and then strode towards us, his jaw so hard that it looked like he’d break his own teeth. I lost interest in Caterer Guy and didn’t care that he hadn’t taken my dick back into his mouth. When Magnus reached us, he kept moving until he had me crowded back against the counter, forcing me to release my hold on the man at my feet.
“Out,” Magnus snarled at Caterer Guy and I felt a shiver of excitement run down my spine and straight to my balls at the harsh order. I wasn’t surprised when the man let out a little gasp and then stumbled to his feet. He’d been too busy sucking my cock to undress himself in any way so he was out the door like a shot, slamming it closed behind him.
Magnus didn’t touch me as he got into my space, though I was definitely wishing he would. My cock actually brushed his trousers when I forced myself not to retreat any farther.
“You want to play your little fucking games, you do it somewhere else because I will not have my grandson walking in on this shit,” Magnus said coldly, his words like little shards of ice. I knew he was right and it was my fault for not making sure the door had been locked, but of course, I didn’t say that. I never said shit like that because I didn’t apologize to guys like Magnus who looked down on me like I was nothing more than garbage.
“Fuck you,” I said, letting my mouth curve into a smile I wasn’t feeling as I added, “Or you too afraid to find out you might actually like it?”
Magnus shook his head at me as if he wasn’t surprised by my response. Like he’d expected it. “Grow up, Dante. Just grow the fuck up.”
And with that, he turned away from me and I was disappointed when he didn’t look back.

Memphis At thirty-four years old, ex-DEA agent Memphis Wheland has lived, loved and lost…everything. The ultimate betrayal by the man he gave everything to has left Memphis with no family, no career and a bone deep bitterness that refuses to release him from its icy grip. His work with an underground vigilante organization is the only light in his otherwise bleak existence. That and the occasional no-strings hookup with men whose only focus in that moment, and for as long as Memphis wants them, is him and only him. No clingy exes, no unrequited love, no relationship drama. Period.
Because Memphis has one rule that he won’t break for anyone or anything. He doesn’t share. Ever. Now if only someone had told that to the young man who would come into his life in the most unexpected way…
Brennan With his entire life ahead of him, graduate student Brennan Devereaux wasn’t expecting it to change in the blink of an eye. But when a case of mistaken identity nearly costs Brennan his life, it isn’t just his future that’s about to change, but his past too. Because for years he’s been in love with a young man who only sees him as a friend and nothing more. And while he was content to love Tristan Barretti from afar, he hadn’t expected to be drawn to the mysterious stranger who saved his life and changed it with a simple promise. I’m not letting you go. They were words spoken in the heat of the moment as the darkness of death had threatened to claim him, but even as Brennan’s love for Tristan refuses to wane, his need for the intriguing Memphis Wheland continues to grow. But any relationship with Memphis means he has to let go of the one thing in his life he’s always valued above everything else…
Tristan At nineteen, Tristan Barretti should have had the world at his feet. His musical gifts have garnered him prestige as well as admission to the famed Julliard School in New York and he has a family that most people would kill for. But the protective bubble his fathers have kept him in has burst and he’s discovered that life outside his unconditionally loving family isn’t as accepting of a kid born with HIV. A poor decision to find answers to questions better left unasked, along with the complications of living with his disease, have Tristan returning to Seattle and the solace of his family. And to the young man he’s wanted from the time he was barely old enough to even understand what that meant. But with an uncertain future that leaves him nothing to offer the gorgeous and successful Brennan Devereaux, Tristan knows the best he can hope for is to keep building on the friendship they’ve shared for years and not get his hopes up that Brennan will be the one man who sees him and not his disease. Except all bets are off when danger follows him home… Choices Even though a physical relationship with Brennan was supposed to be just that, Memphis finds himself unable to refuse his young lover’s request to help put a stop to the threat against Tristan. Even knowing full well that Brennan’s heart lies with the man he claims is nothing more than a friend, Memphis accepts the challenge of ensuring Tristan’s safety. But when the quiet music student stops being a “job” and starts being something much more, Memphis is torn between his growing feelings for both young men and the fear that he’ll be facing an even greater betrayal that he’ll never be able to come back from. Except none of that matters when the threat that Memphis never saw coming puts Brennan and Tristan in the crosshairs. And the cost of the vengeance he once craved suddenly comes at too high a price…

Excerpt from Vengeance by Sloane Kennedy

I watched as Brennan approached the piano bench and reached out to run his fingers over Tristan’s hair. Tristan squeezed his eyes closed as more tears fell and I heard him suck in a harsh sob. Brennan lowered himself until he was straddling the bench next to Tristan and he put his arms around Tristan’s shoulders. I barely heard his whispered apology above the music, but a moment later, Tristan stopped playing and brought his hand up to close around the arm that was resting against his collar bone. I watched the two young men press their heads together and I felt an invisible pull drawing me forward until I was straddling the bench on Tristan’s opposite side.
Even though Tristan clung to Brennan’s arm, his eyes opened and settled on me and I felt completely lost.
I wanted so much in that moment…too much.
I wanted to take Tristan’s pain away. I wanted to beg Brennan not to choose Tristan over me. I wanted him not to choose me over Tristan.
Tristan was sucking in deep breaths as he tried to get control of himself and I could hear Brennan murmuring in his ear that everything was going to be okay. Part of me felt like an interloper as I watched them hold on to each other and part of me never wanted to stop. They were so beautiful together that it made me ache deep inside.
But I saw the moment the comforting shifted to something more intense and I felt a shiver of excitement run through me. The only place I was actually touching Tristan was where my knee was pressing against his leg, but I still felt everything that was happening between the two young men. And I wanted it…
I wanted it just as badly as I wanted to be touching them myself. So when Brennan’s eyes shifted to me and I saw the unspoken question there, I didn’t hesitate to give him my permission. His eyes clouded over with lust and I felt my cock harden in response.
I didn’t even realize I’d shifted closer to Tristan on the small bench until I felt his outer thigh brushing my leg. I watched as Brennan pulled back from Tristan enough so that their eyes met and I sensed the instant Tristan realized things had changed from comforting to more. Tristan’s right hand was resting on his leg, but just as Brennan leaned in to take a taste of him, his hand found its way to my thigh. I covered it with mine, careful not to put any pressure on his injured finger. I hadn’t expected to be included in their first kiss, but it was almost like I felt what Tristan was feeling, because his fingertips pressed into my leg when Brennan’s mouth brushed over his.
A startled whimper escaped Tristan’s mouth when Brennan pulled back just a little bit. The next kiss was longer, sweeter, but still light. I knew exactly what Tristan was feeling because I’d been the recipient of plenty of those kisses. Tristan would be reveling in every touch of Brennan’s mouth on his, but soon it wouldn’t be enough. And sure enough, after a few more passes, Tristan began following Brennan as he pulled back. Brennan let Tristan take over the kiss for a few seconds before he finally teased Tristan with a quick lick across his lower lip. And then the teasing was over and Brennan took what he wanted.
I waited for the disappointment to surge through me at the sight of my lover so ferociously consuming another. But it never came and all the soft moans and broken whimpers only spiked up my own lust.
I let my left hand stroke up and down Tristan’s back as I leaned in to skim my lips over the pulse point on his neck. My intent hadn’t been to interrupt their kiss, but when a pair of firm, warm lips searched mine out, I gladly accepted the kiss and lost myself in it. I knew it was Tristan who was kissing me because there was still a hint of inexperience in the way his tongue played with mine. And his taste…just as sweet as Brennan’s but so very different. I wrapped my hand around the back of Tristan’s neck to hold him still as I took over the kiss. I pulled back just enough to look into his pretty gray eyes. They were clear and open and finally free of pain.
I kissed him again briefly and then kissed away the few tears that lingered on his skin. Brennan was doing the same on his other cheek and then our lips met just above Tristan’s mouth. I kissed Brennan long and deep and hard. I heard Tristan moan and saw that he’d pulled back just enough so that he could watch us. My eyes met Brennan’s for a moment and then I went for Tristan’s lips. He opened his mouth automatically for me, but I didn’t cover his lips with mine. I hovered on one side of his mouth as my tongue played with his and I let my eyes search out Brennan. My young lover quickly picked up on what I wanted and he leaned in to do the same to Tristan’s mouth on the other side. And then we were both dipping inside of Tristan’s mouth. His tongue met both of ours and while he startled at the newness of being kissed this way, he recovered quickly and soon it was just a blind mix of lips and tongues as we kissed each other.
I let my hand trail over Tristan’s chest and met Brennan’s hand. He’d worked Tristan’s shirt up, so I skimmed my palm over Tristan’s abdomen before settling it on his groin. He jumped at the contact and whispered a broken, “Please,” before he lost himself in kissing us again. Brennan pulled back from the kiss and out of my peripheral vision I saw him urging Tristan to move. Before I even realized what was happening, Tristan was straddling the bench so that he was facing me. I glanced up at Brennan and saw his passion-filled eyes had gone dark with need. He nodded at me and then reached for the hem of Tristan’s shirt. Tristan seemed to be in a daze as he sat between us so I leaned in to kiss him.

“Can I touch you, Tristan?” I asked.

Forsaken
The Protectors Book #4
by Sloane Kennedy

Abandoned. Abused. Betrayed.
Ex-cop Maverick “Mav” James needs only three things. His Harley, an open road and his work in an underground organization that delivers justice when the law can’t.
Family? They left him long before he left them.
Friends? A liability.
A place to call home? Doesn’t exist.
Mav’s motto is simple: Get done and get out. Work, sex, doesn’t matter. No emotional connections. Simple.
Until he meets him.

Alone. Hiding. Broken.
At fifteen years old, Eli Galvez had nothing. No family, no friends and only his body as a means to make enough money to survive. But a chance meeting changed all that and eight years later, he’s well on his way to having the life he could once only dream of. He’s been accepted into medical school and he’s finally returned home to Seattle to be closer to the men and women who don’t share his blood, but are the only family he’s ever really known.
Only things aren’t what they seem and the secrets Eli has been hiding are about to come to the surface with dangerous consequences.

One final chance at a real future.
Guys like Eli just aren’t Mav’s type, period. Yet he can’t deny his intense attraction to the younger man who only looks at him with fear in his eyes. Until the day there’s something else in those eyes too. Something that draws Mav in and refuses to let go. Something that makes him want to forget his rules. But Mav’s learned the hard way what happens when you get too close to something. And while he vows to protect Eli after a violent attack leaves the younger man shaken, protection is all he’ll offer.
Because anything else would just cost too much.

Prologue

Mav
I didn’t see him at first because unlike so many of the other times he’d been walking down the busy hallway towards the hospital room I was guarding, his head was hung and he didn’t speak to any of the various nurses and other staff who greeted him. In fact, he was so distracted that he nearly slammed into me as he turned to enter the room. I managed to grab him by the upper arms just before he walked into me and I didn’t miss his startled gasp as he lifted his eyes to meet mine.
The young man was nothing like the men I usually went for. First of all, he was just way too young. He was in his early twenties at best. Second, I liked them a little on the sturdier side. This man was so lean and slight, I would have had to worry about breaking him if I put all of my weight down on his back while I was fucking him from behind. And third, and most importantly, he was skittish. Exceedingly so. I didn’t mind a little shyness here and there, but I wasn’t into fucking guys who were terrified of me. And with the way his whole body seized up when I’d first grabbed his arms, I knew that was exactly what he was.
“Sorry,” he whispered, though it was hard to hear him over the din of the people coming and going through the hallway.
“No problem,” I responded, though I had yet to let him go. With it being summer, he was wearing a short-sleeved shirt so my fingers were in contact with his bare skin which was wreaking havoc on my senses. Not to mention his big, luminous dark brown eyes and his slightly parted lips that looked so full that I couldn’t help but wonder if he’d just been kissing someone or if they were just naturally that plump and supple looking.
I’d first noticed him a couple of weeks earlier when the young boy I was keeping an eye on, Matty Travers, had been readmitted to the Immunocompromised Services Unit of the children’s hospital. I’d only met the little boy about six weeks earlier when my boss, Ronan Grisham, had asked me to keep an eye on one of my colleagues, Hawke, in case he decided to single-handedly pursue the men who’d murdered his wife. Under normal circumstances, Hawke wasn’t the kind of guy who needed backup, but when Ronan had learned that the murderers had taken up with a Mexican drug lord, all bets were off and he’d ordered me to stick to Hawke like glue.
Weeks had passed, but Hawke hadn’t gone looking for the men as expected and when the man he’d lost his heart to, Tate Travers, and his five-year-old son had shown up to visit him at his ranch in Wyoming, I’d been there to witness the reunion and I’d known then that Hawke had chosen a future with them rather than seeking vengeance for the rape and murder of his wife and unborn child ten years earlier. I’d ended up sticking around town for a couple days so I could explore the mountain ranges surrounding Rocky Point, but on the day I’d finally gotten on my Harley to head to my next assignment, Ronan had frantically called me and told me to get back to Hawke’s house because the men he’d given up on hunting had found him instead.
I’d made it back to Hawke’s ranch just in time to save him from the bullet one of the drug lord’s lackeys had been about to put in his brain, and then he and I had managed to get Tate and Matty to safety. For someone so young, little Matty had been beyond brave as a gun had been held to his head and I’d felt a kinship with him from the start. So when Ronan had asked me if I’d stay in Seattle for a while to keep an eye on the family in case the drug lord made a play for them, I’d readily agreed.
And that was when I’d seen the young man.
He arrived every day like clockwork to spend time with Matty and I’d learned from Hawke who had given me the okay to let the guy past me, that he was someone who had just started volunteering in the pediatric oncology unit. I hadn’t missed how beautiful he was with his dark skin tone that hinted at Hispanic heritage and pretty, expressive eyes, but I’d dismissed my intense attraction to him because of the way he’d looked at me that very first day when he’d told me his name as he’d sought entry into Matty’s room.
Eli.
I’d let the name roll off my tongue as I’d automatically flirted with him, but when he’d looked at me like I was going to jump him, I’d let him pass without further comment and I’d done my best to ignore him all the other days that he’d stopped by. But it had been an almost impossible task because there was always this inevitable moment when Eli stepped past me, that his eyes would lift to look at me for the briefest of moments and I wouldn’t see fear in them…I’d see something different. Something that had my stomach knotting up with anticipation and my fingers itching to reach up and stroke over the smoothness of his cheek.
But now as I held on to him, he wasn’t only looking terrified, he was practically shaking in my grip, so I quickly released him.
I knew I wasn’t the safest looking guy in terms of appearance, especially considering the tattoos that covered my arms, torso and back, my large build, long hair and the leather motorcycle pants I wore, but it wasn’t like I’d overtly come on to the guy or anything that would cause him to be so fearful of me.
I expected Eli to quickly move away from me and rush into the room, but other than taking a step back, he didn’t do anything else. His eyes held mine as he tried to get control of his breathing and then he shook his head slightly. “I’m sorry,” he said again, a little louder this time, but still very low and quiet.
I had no doubt the second apology had nothing to do with running into me and I desperately wanted to ask him what he was sorry for. But then I saw it.
Longing.
My breath caught in my throat as I realized what the look meant, but before I could question Eli or even respond, he stepped past me and into the room. I heard both Matty and Tate happily greet him and there was no fear or tentativeness as Eli greeted them in return. The idea that Eli might actually be attracted to me was an unexpected distraction and it took everything in my power to keep from looking through the glass walls into Matty’s room to see him and Eli interacting. My job was to focus on my surroundings and keep the little boy inside that room safe.
It was only about a half an hour later that Eli left the room and I willed myself not to look at him as he passed, but I failed miserably when I sensed his gaze on me. Our eyes met briefly and I felt my cock harden uncomfortably in my pants. Eli was the one to tear his gaze away first, but I kept my eyes on his slim back as he hurried down the hall towards another room and it wasn’t until he disappeared inside of it that I finally managed to snap out of whatever spell I’d fallen under. Irritation flooded my system and I cursed both my own traitorous body, as well as the young man who’d fucked with my head for those few seconds with just one look.
My shift outside Matty’s door lasted only another hour and when Hawke arrived to relieve me, I said my goodbyes to Matty and Tate and hurried towards the parking garage so I could get my Harley between my legs and use the massive bike to work off some of the tension that was still lingering in my system. It took just a few minutes to get to the garage and I automatically bypassed the elevator for the stairs that would lead to the lowest floor of the garage where I’d left my bike. But the second I opened the door, I went on high alert when I heard someone yelling, “Stay the fuck away from him, do you hear me?”
The sound of flesh striking flesh had me moving and when I heard someone let out a small cry, I leaned over the stair railing and yelled, “Hey! What’s going on down there?”
There was another distressed cry and then a door was opening and closing. I knew the assailant would be long gone by the time I reached the bottom landing, but I took the stairs as fast as I could anyway so I could make sure whoever had been struck was okay.
I saw the young man immediately before I even reached the last step. He was sitting on the concrete floor, his back to the wall and his arms over his head. I could hear him crying softly.
“Hey, you okay?” I asked as I knelt on the floor in front of him. He flinched when I carefully tried to pull his arms away from his face. “You’re safe now,” I murmured as he finally relaxed his muscles enough to drop his arms. And when I put my fingers under his chin to lift his face, I held my breath as I realized who it was under the bruise that was already forming along one cheek, the blood trickling from the split lip and the tears streaking down his face.
Eli.

But what I felt most was the perfection of what these two men were giving me. And I knew in that moment that I would do anything to keep it. Anything. --Cole

After four years abroad, artist Jonas Davenport has come home to start building his dream of owning his own art studio and gallery. But just as he’s ready to put the darkness of his past behind him forever, it comes roaring back with a vengeance.

The only thing keeping ex-cop Mace Calhoun from eating his own gun after an unthinkable loss is his role in an underground syndicate that seeks to get justice for the innocent by taking the lives of the guilty. Ending the life of the young artist who committed unspeakable crimes against the most vulnerable of victims should have been the easiest thing in the world. So why can’t he bring himself to pull the trigger?

After years of fighting in an endless, soul-sucking war, Navy SEAL Cole Bridgerton has come home to fight another battle – dealing with the discovery that the younger sister who ran away from home eight years earlier is lost to him forever. He needs answers and the only person who can give them to him is a young man struggling to put his life back together. But he never expected to feel something more for the haunted artist.

Cole and Mace. One lives by the rules, the other makes his own. One seeks justice through the law while the other seeks it with his gun. Two men, one light, one dark, will find themselves and each other when they’re forced to stand side by side to protect Jonas from an unseen evil that will stop at nothing to silence the young artist forever.

But each man’s scars run deep and even the strength of three may not be enough to save them…

I lifted my gaze to tell Seth no but then I saw it. The thing I'd feared I'd lost. It wasn't hero worship or the wayward emotions of an innocent child. And it wasn't some distorted reflection of a man who no longer existed. All I saw was me...the way he saw me. --Ronan

Trauma surgeon Ronan Grisham lost everything the day the man he loved was stolen from him in a brutal attack. Driven by a thirst for vengeance, he turns his hatred into building an underground group that can do what he couldn’t that fateful day…take the lives of the guilty to save the lives of the innocent. But years later, he’s forced to confront the one link to his past that he can’t sever.

Seven years after the loss of his parents in a violent home invasion that left him permanently scarred both inside and out, 21-year-old Seth Nichols is trying to put his life back together so he can take over the reins of his father’s global shipping empire. But the last person he expects to come back into his life is the man he drove away with one innocent, stolen kiss.

With one brush of his lips, Seth managed to do to Ronan what no other had since the day Ronan watched the light in his fiancé’s eyes go out forever. He made him need again. But Ronan can’t need anyone, least of all his dead fiancé’s younger brother. Because even one touch from Seth could shatter Ronan’s carefully constructed world and Ronan knows there’s no coming back from that a second time.

But when a series of escalating attacks against Seth forces Ronan back into his life, Seth knows it’s his last chance to show Ronan he can be the man the broken surgeon needs. Only the Ronan who returns isn’t the Ronan Seth fell in love with so long ago…

Can Seth be Ronan’s salvation or will he end up destroying them both?

"You're a hero every fucking day,Tate," I said softly. "Don't ever forget that." --Hawke

Ex Special Forces soldier Michael "Hawke" Hawkins has spent every day of the last ten years waiting for the moment he would get to watch the life fade from the eyes of the men who brutally murdered his wife, but when he finally gets the break he's been waiting for, the trail leads him to someone he wasn't expecting.

After nearly two years of running, 24-year-old Tate Travers has become an expert at hiding...until the day a dangerous stranger shows up looking for vengeance and threatens to destroy the fragile life Tate has managed to build for himself and his five-year-old son. Except the life Tate has been struggling to hold on to started unraveling long before Hawke showed up looking for the same men Tate has been running from...his own father and older brother.

Retribution - it's all Hawke has wanted since the day he held his wife's hand as she took her last breath. And he won't give that up for anything or anyone...not even the tormented young man trying to give his little boy a better life. Because Tate is the only one who can lead Hawke to the men he's been searching for. And if it means forcing the young man to confront the past that nearly destroyed him, then so be it.

Only the last thing Hawke expects to feel is something besides the hatred that has driven him. And he definitely never expected to feel it for a man.

But when it comes down to choosing between the unwanted feelings Tate stirs in him and the revenge he's finally close enough to taste, will Hawke be able to give up the one thing that has kept him going for a second chance at a future he gave up on ever having?
