He’s standing with his hand on the refrigerator door, head leaned inside, and his back fully exposed to me. It’s broad and strong and scarred immeasurably. I stare. I can’t help it. The marks are a dizzying array of dark and light and ridged and smooth. And they’re undeniably burns. Goosebumps chase over my skin as I imagine the pain he must have endured when he got those. I think of his habit of wearing unbuttoned shirts but never going shirtless and the hint of scars just visible above his collar that I never could have imagined led to this roadmap to hell on his back. A part of me instinctively wants to reach out to touch them, bring some kind of comfort. It sounds ridiculous, even to me, but that doesn’t abate the urge. “Not pretty, huh? Get a good look while you can.” His voice is gruff as his spine stiffens and body stills, emotion woven through the words. “Thank God not all of you is pretty. I was beginning to feel majorly insecure having to live with perfection like you,” I say off the cuff, trying to make this situation less awkward. My attempt to settle the sudden tension sparking in the air around us. “Perfection?” he asks as he turns to face me with a smile that masks the emotion swirling in his eyes. “Yeah. You have scars. I have mermaid thighs.” “Mermaid thighs?” He laughs. “What in the world are you talking about?” “Thighs that touch from the top all the way to my knees.” I shrug as if it doesn’t bug me, as if I’m not highlighting one of the insults Tara threw at me. It’s a whole lot easier to make fun of myself so long as it puts him at ease. “Do you ever give yourself a break?” “Do you?” I ask the question, sparking a silent battle of wills as we stare at each other and wonder what to say next about the other’s insecurities. Coming up empty, I shift gears. “I think there is some type of rule about how many abs are fair for a guy to have when the rest of us are just struggling to find one of them.” His smile rings more genuine as he steps toward me, and I step back, my hips leaning against the counter now. “Is that so?” His voice lowers as his eyes flick to my lips and then back up. “I’m sure you have some under your shirt there.” Why does the simple action make it seem so hard to swallow? He takes another step. “What are you building outside?” “A playroom.” A nervous chuckle falls from my lips as I think of all of the versions of playrooms I’ve read about in my romance books. My cheeks stain red as I imagine Grady with a flogger in one hand standing beside a St. Andrew’s Cross. “A playroom?” “Yeah.” He takes a step closer so we’re breathing the same air, his voice husky enough to cause every part of my body to grow alert. “A playroom. You know . . . a pool table. Foosball. A real man cave.” I exhale a shaky sigh, suddenly more than aware that he’s so close, shirtless, sweaty, and smelling like sun and soap mixed together. But it’s his eyes that make my thoughts falter. There’s an intensity to them I don’t expect from the perpetually cheerful Grady Malone. “Ah, that kind of playroom . . .” But my words trail off as he steps even closer and braces his hands on the counter on either side of me. I can hear his intake of breath. The music floating in from outside. The pound of my pulse in my ears. “Hey, Dyl?” “Yes?” Our eyes hold, my lips fall lax. “I need you to open up.” “What?” I question as his hand brushes against my hip and his fingers pull on the drawer handle I’m standing in front of. “I need the bottle opener. You’re standing in front of the drawer it’s in.” His lips spread into a full-fledged grin as I scramble away from the counter and, of course, run smack dab into the hardness, all six foot plus of him. And then I rebound off him again in a flustered state that has him laughing and me stuttering. “Sorry. I wasn’t—I didn’t . . .” His arms hold on to my biceps to steady me, which prompts me to look up and meet his eyes. “We need to stop meeting like this,” he murmurs, the heat of his breath hitting my lips. “We do.” Brilliant, Dylan. Freaking brilliant response. “I’ve gotta . . . I’ve gotta get back to . . . to writing.”About K. BrombergNew York Times Bestselling author K. DONâT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.
Youâll tell me you donât⦠but you already think you know what my storyâs about.
You have no idea.
Just like the people sitting in this courtroom.
She asked for it. Thatâs what they keep saying.
And no, itâs not because my skirt was too short or I was drunk at a party.
Itâs nothing like that. Itâs because of what I like and how I like it.
Theyâre judging me as I sit in the front row, my eyes drawn to the man on trial.
If Iâd known it was going to end like this, I never would have gone home with him.
But heâs the type of man I just canât say no to.
I wanted to feel his lips kiss down my neck.
I dreamed of running my fingers along the rough stubble on his jaw.
I craved his hands on me, pinning me down.
I needed to whisper his name in the dark, late at night.
You still think you know what happened? You donât.
Heâs innocent and I enjoyed every second I was with him.
Let me tell you my story ⦠all about how I asked for it.
Willow Winters is so happy to be a USA Today, Wall Street Journal and #1 Contemporary Bestselling Romance Author. She likes her action hot and her bad boys hotter. She certainly doesnât hold back on either one in her writing!

The last time I saw Nevada Kane, I was seventeen and he was loading his things into the back of his truck, about to embark on a fourteen-hour drive to the only college that offered him a full ride to play basketball. I told him I’d wait for him. He promised to do the same. But life happened. I broke my promise long before he ever broke his. And not because I wanted to. We never saw each other again … Until ten years later when Nevada unexpectedly returned to our hometown after an abrupt retirement from his professional basketball career. Suddenly he was everywhere, always staring through me with that brooding gaze, never returning my smiles or “hellos.” Over the years, I’d heard that he’d changed. And that despite his multi-million dollar contracts and rampant success, life hadn’t been so kind to him. He was a widower. And a single father. And rumor had it, he’d spent his last ten years trying to forget me, refusing to so much as breathe my name … hating me. But just like a rebound, he’s back. And I have to believe everything happens for a reason. Wall Street Journal and #1 Amazon bestselling author Winter Renshaw is a bona fide daydream believer. Michelle's Review
With The Last Goodbye by Len Webster
My rating: 4 of 5 stars Truly emotional... We pick up where With the First Goodbye leaves off, you have to read this first or you will be completely lost. This is not a standalone. This is an truly emotional book. I cried through the whole thing, and it wasn’t pretty cries either, it was total ugly cry going on. The characters Max and Josie are wonderful and their story will pull your heart out. It is beautifully written and I am totally in love with it. At one point I felt so bad for Josie that I couldn’t help but think can the poor girl take anything else? This is one of those books that you totally invest yourself in and when you finally get the HEA you were hoping for those ugly tears turn to tears of joy. View all my reviews

Hound by Marie James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars Another great addition to the Cerberus crew. Hound is your typical alpha and Gigi is a hardheaded MC brat but together they are explosive and their story is one you will definitely fall in love with. Sheâs a runner, heâs a catcher. His first job with Cerberus and she almost gets him fired. He canât stay away and sheâs a temptress. I absolutely love these two together. Gigi is one of those characters that you donât really like at first but then when you get inside her she becomes a favorite. This is one of those books that has a little something for everyone. Itâs hot, emotional and there are some smiles too. We even get a surprise camo from a certain President that totally took me by surprise. This is a wonderful read and I definitely recommend it and all the other Cerberus books. View all my reviews

Some rules were meant to be broken. Badass biker Ryan ‘Tiny’ Nelson has no plans to settle down. But when the feisty Mercedes ‘Missy’ Soto shows up at the Charon MC clubhouse, it only takes one taste before they’re both hooked. When Missy’s past catches up with her, can Tiny find the woman he’s fallen for in time to give her a Christmas to remember, or is she lost to him forever?
“Just go and get your girl already.” A growl rumbled up my throat and I spun to storm the rest of the way down the hallway, unfortunately, with Keg on my heels the whole way. “She ain’t my girl.” My younger club brother scoffed. “You can lie to yourself all you want, brother. The rest of us see the way you two look at each other. Tell me, have you noticed how she’s always available when you go looking?” “She’s a club whore, Keg. It’s kinda her job to always be fucking available.” And didn’t that very thought set my teeth on edge. Dammit. “And that look on your face right now, would be the reason why the prettiest girl in that room is the one used the least.” Clenching the hand not holding my beer into a fist I spun on my brother. “You got no fucking idea what you’re talking about.” He shook his head with a sad expression. “Whatever, Tiny. Your loss. Because with the amount of Cowboys here tonight, she won’t be left alone for long. Your choice whether you fucking man up and get to her first or not. Despite the rule against it, you wouldn’t be the first Charon to pick his old lady from the club whores, you know?”.
